Leon Draisaitl Jersey . - After the surgery and the rehabilitation, the setbacks and finally the triumph in the Super Bowl, a simple voluntary off-season workout has more meaning for Percy Harvin. His appreciation is a byproduct of spending most of his first season with the Seattle Seahawks as a spectator. "Im just happy to be out here, Im happy to be healthy right now," Harvin said last month during the Seahawks organized team activities. "Were all tuned into what we have to get done this next coming year so were all just out here working. It feels tremendously good to get back on the field and be as one." Having Harvin fully healthy and ready to go from the start will be key for the Seahawks when they get to the start of training camp in late July. There are still three more days of workouts next week during minicamp to get through, but so far this off-season has been nothing but a success for Harvin in finally getting fully integrated into Seattles offence. Last season, Harvin pushed through the off-season workouts. It was a must in order to learn his new team, his new offence, his new quarterback after the trade that brought him to Seattle from Minnesota. But Harvin was never right, the pain in his hip never leaving. "I knew I had pain, I didnt know exactly what it was so I just kind of pushed through the whole last year in the off-season," Harvin said. The problem and what followed is now well known. Harvin had the labrum in his hip repaired and he played in only one regular-season game in 2013. He returned for the NFC divisional playoff game against New Orleans, only to get knocked out in the second quarter with a concussion. He missed the NFC championship game. Of course, Harvin made his presence known on the biggest stage, with two big offensive plays in the first half of the Super Bowl and his 87-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to start the second half. The Super Bowl proved to be Harvins springboard. Within a couple of weeks of the season ending, Harvin was texting teammates to make sure they were getting started on their off-season workouts. He took part with many of Seattles wide receivers, tight ends and running backs during a pseudo-camp in Southern California organized by quarterback Russell Wilson. And Harvins been getting plenty of reps during the OTAs — all without pain. "This is probably the best Ive ever felt since before college," Harvin said. Having Harvin as a full participant gives Seattle a chance to try to sort out its receiving situation early. While there is depth in the group there are also questions. Will Sidney Rice be healthy enough to return and be a contributor? Can Doug Baldwin move to the outside to replace Golden Tate and be as effective as he was playing mostly in the slot in previous seasons? And how can Seattle use Harvins skills to the fullest extent as long as hes healthy from the start of the season? "Percy is spending a lot more time out there so that is bringing a new element of speed," Seattle cornerback Ricahrd Sherman said. "Our offence is coming up with some cool concepts. While there is a lot that Sundin has liked in the tournament so far, the performance that Russia put forth against Finland in the quarterfinals left a bad taste in his mouth. Its over a [full] season and you try to get that, but saying that, international hockey and the Olympic Games go to a little bit of a higher level. You have all the absolute best players in the world competing. Its a short tournament, but its the absolute best, biggest thing you can win as a hockey player today where you face every countrys best players on the ice. And also, for any athlete, women or men, winning an Olympic medal is a little bit beyond just the sport of hockey, as well. You cant compare them, but obviously, you want to be part of both for sure." Sundin thinks that an unfamiliarity with the larger ice surface is one of the main reasons why Canadas offence has yet to really click in Sochi, despite the team being undefeated. "The US and Canada were more comfortable. You look at the tournament right now, you can tell [Canada] is not as comfortable on the big ice surface...with the bigger ice surface, it becomes a little bit of a different game." With NHL participation up in the air for the 2018 Olympic Games to be held in Pyeongchang, South Korea, Sundin believes it would be a mistake for the league to stop sending its best to the tournament as its a perfect opportunity to put a spotlight on the sport. "For me, its a no-brainer," said Sundin. "I think youve got to look at the broader picture. For the game of hockey, and if you want the game to continue to grow, theres no better window than the Olympic Games, where you can get new fans watching our great game, people from different parts of the world. I dont really see a reason why not. I know it affects the game short term. Some guys get hurt (and) when they get back they might not perform as well. But if you look at a long term picture, I think its just too big of a window to promote our sport to not be part of it." As for Sundays clash between his home country and the country he spent 18 years playing in, Sundin gives the edge to Canada. "Theres no doubt that the Swedish team...are not where you would think to call them a gold medal favourite at this point [without] Henrik Sedin and Henrik Zetterberg, two of the best centremen we have playing right now," said Sundin. "For them to get to the finals here, to get by Finland...Ill hold Canada as the favourites to win the gold medal, but if you have [Henrik] Lundqvist playing an enormous game in the final, theres a shot.
